Membership and How to Join

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

There are 3 types of membership. All have exactly the same benefits:

FRESHMAN           For media make-up/hair artists who have been working in the industry for LESS than 10 years

FULL MEMBER      For media make-up/hair artists with OVER 10 years' experience

ASSOCIATE           For companies that are e.g. wig makers, training providers, make-up suppliers and so on

FEES AND DATES

Membership runs annually from 1^st January to 31^st December. Should you wish to join us part way through the year, please contact us and we can reduce the fee for the first year only. Renewal membership fees are due no later than the end of January. Current membership fees for the year are:

FRESHMAN           £25

FULL MEMBER      £40

ASSOCIATE           £40

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

All of these benefits are included in your annual membership fee – there are no hidden extras or charges:

Freshmen and Full Members get their own page on our website where you can include information like credits, contact details, qualifications, training and pictures of your work. Associate members have a listing with website links, logos, contact details and information about their service or products.

A listing in our directory which goes out to production companies every year.

Packed with information on products, forthcoming events, news and in-depth articles.

Discounts on screen make-up products exclusively for NASMAH members (via the newsletter).

Help is an e-mail or a phone call away and if we don’t know the answer, we can point you in the right direction.

We can arrange ″play days″ where you can try out new materials and products sent to us from suppliers.

Exclusive 15% discount on our short courses, covering subjects like airbrushing, period hairdressing, barbering (both basic and advanced) and facial hair application.

HOW TO APPLY

All membership applications have to be approved by the committee and CVs, credits and qualifications will be verified. It is a formality to ensure that we maintain our high standards and CVs are accurate. Follow the instructions depending on which type of member you are:

FRESHMAN: Download the freshman application form and, once completed, please post the form along with your current CV and the freshman membership fee to our address below.

FULL MEMBER: You must have worked in the industry for no less than 10 years, after having completed a basic training recognised by the association. New  applicants will require two current members to sponsor their application. Download the full member application form and, once completed, please post the form along with your current CV and the membership fee to our address below.

ASSOCIATE: Download the associate application form and, once completed, please post the form along with the associate membership fee to our address below.

PAYMENT: We can only accept payment by cheque (made payable to NASMAH) or cash (please send by registered post). We are unable to accept credit or debit cards.

WHAT WE DON'T DO

We are not a union or an agency, and we do not provide or find work.

(We do promote our members through our website and directory. Some members have been contacted direct about work opportunities through their NASMAH web page and we do get calls from individuals or companies looking for make-up personnel)
